Putting into words what Phenom has been for me over the past 7+ years isn't possible. My Jiu Jitsu journey has had its ups and downs as life has thrown at me the inevitable variables I have had to adjust to. Marriage, kids, career changes, injuries...everything a middle-aged adult can expect to deal with. The one constant has been where I train and the community/family I have surrounded myself with. There are many BJJ gyms you can choose from, but I assure you they are not all equal. Professor Martin is one of one. His knowledge of the game is something I equate to what Chess Grandmasters achieve. A knowledge steeped heavily in the tiniest detail of every move and body position required to execute a transition or submission. I’ve been to quite a few open mats in my BJJ journey, and I haven’t come across a place like Phenom. Phenom BJJ is great, I felt very welcome, the professor is very knowledgeable, articulate, laid back and kind. The team is very caring, and professional - no spazzes, egos, or territorial people - which for someone getting back into it is perfect. If you’re nervous, which I understand, rest assured. Just take the first step!!! - and Phenom will take it from there. 5 stars - I would recommend.

There’s just too much to say about Phenom, Professor Martin, and the students here. If I had to summarize, I would say Professor Martin is kind, humble, and EXTREMELY skilled. Those qualities definitely flowed downwards to the students too! My son went to another school for several years and it was good, but the instruction here is on another level. We are willing to drive an extra an hour and 30 minutes, five days a week, to be here. If you want your child to do their best jiu-jitsu while building good character, come to Phenom!

I absolutely love this gym. Been training here for around 3 months now and I've been to other gyms and nothing beats this. Phenom has amazing professors and Professor Martin is my personal favorite, he's always checking in on me to see if I'm going to class and teases me for days I miss class 🤣 Gym has really great people here too, met alot of cool individuals and I'm looking forward to the future training at this gym. Overall super clean, friendly, and nicely themed with great professors to learn from.

Absolutely love this place started training one day five years ago and never stopped since Professor Martin is a amazing jujitsu instructor with a loving and caring environment to learn jujitsu if you are looking to learn self-defense or just shred a couple pounds this is your place to be I used to walk around at 225 pounds and now I’m at 145 loosing 80 lbs I am forever grateful Big Thanks to Professor Martin🙏

They are the best. My son loves wrestling. He was going to Taekwondo. He wanted to try Jiu jitsu. He really like it. The teacher are awesome and so kind. If you or your kid(s) love martial arts I think this is the best one. This martial art will keep bullies out :)

Small, quaint, with personal attention is how the academy presents itself. It doesn't even have exterior signage. It's within Level Fitness. It's a loveable hidden academy gem. I really appreciate the personal attention and not left alone to my own devices. Regular feedback and facilitation are what I enjoy the most. It's a very welcoming environment.

Took me a few tries to find a place to get back into BJJ after 8-10 years off. Professor Martin made me feel welcome the moment I walked in. His students are humble and made me feel welcome. No egos. No bad attitudes. No pressure. Professor Martin makes learning new techniques easy with clear examples and communication, I signed up after one class. Love the family vibe. Highly recommend

Our family dropped in and such a warm welcome! Need to roll with women more and definitely learned and had fun with the ladies and the coaches of course! Jiu-jitsu has changed my life! My professors here at Phenom have really made a big difference in my life. Professor Martin and Professor Jeff have really impacted my life in a positive way. They have become my role models! I always wanted to play a sport in high school but no sports really interested me. When I was introduced to Jiu-jitsu I was blown away. I am addicted. Jiu-jitsu has taught me how to be patient and how to defend myself when I need to. I haven’t had the opportunity to defend myself and I hope that day never comes. If there’s ever a situation where I will be forced to defend myself, I will be ready. I have amazing teammates here at Phenom and I will continue training here for the rest of my life. Highly recommend. As a parent I love seeing my daughter and son train at Phenom. The environment created at Phenom is welcoming and pleasant. All the kids work hard and the professors do such a great job of retaining their attention... which all who are parents might now how difficult this can be at times. Haha At Phenom I have the privilege to witness my kids growth not only in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but also their strength, stamina, patience, problem-solving, confidence, and sociability.

I’ve been training jiu jitsu for the last ten years. During that time I’ve tried dozens of Jiu Jitsu schools. Phenom is the best school I have ever trained at. Not only for the amazing techniques that Professor Martin teaches but also for the love and hospitality I feel every time I walk though that door. Everyone is super nice and also really tough. Its always an incredible workout. Phenom has literally changed my life and made me a better person. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to improve their life. You won’t find a better school In Orange County.

*This is a review from a parent* This place is amazing. My son was 4 years old when he joined and my son has that prankster personality. He always jokes around, can't focus, don't listen, very bad with following directions. I was looking for a martial art class for him that can teach him discipline and of course, self defense! On the first day, I was very impressed with how awesome, energetic, & engaging the class is. They make the class very fun but the instructors do not hesitate to discipline the kids when they don't pay attention (not like other places when they totally ignore the kids who are just goofing around). It has been about 6 months now since he started, and I can see big improvement with his BJJ skill and his attitude. I am very happy to see how much my son has grown, and he loves BJJ now. Phenom is on the total opposite direction from my kids' school but I am planning to keep him in Phenom for as long as possible, totally worth it. It is almost impossible to find another place as good as Phenom. Prof Martin and Phenom deserve 6 stars.
